When the world order seems to be turned on its head at the start of 2026, and the geo-politics of the future appear so uncertain, we naturally gravitate to places where we feel secure, where the outside world is at arm’s length and you can switch off from the drama. For those of us fortunate to call the British Virgin Islands home, we have such a place, where crime is low, you definitely feel secure and the most drama we are likely to face each day is avoiding the occasional rain shower. OK, we moan about the poor state of the roads and sometimes the electricity goes out, but who at the moment would give up the BVI for a life elsewhere? We invite you to explore the British Virgin Islands with us and perhaps you too, will decide that calling the BVI home is the right thing to do.

In this, our third edition of the BVI Property Report, we explore the regional property markets as well as our own. Our Marketing Manager, Megan McCann, interviews Rick Moeser at Premier Estate Properties and Dominique Silvera at CIRE | Antigua who are both active in the Caribbean region. Working together to list Pelican Ridge in Antigua, the article explores how agents can co-operate to sell a property and the strengths of joining an international organization like Christies International Real Estate. Our market report looks at the real estate market in the BVI, providing both vendors and potential purchasers with the perspective they need to make informed decisions. We recognize that the real estate market, particularly for foreign investors, is complex and processes can stifle investment, so we engaged with Dr. Ronald Berkeley, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change for answers to questions that investors want to ask. The Permanent Secretary’s responses point to a time of change within the Ministry on how they process landholding licences which is encouraging to hear.

The economy in the British Virgin Islands is built on the twin economic pillars of financial services and tourism, with each sector offering much to the stability and growth of the British Virgin Islands. I was fortunate to be involved in the latest development to take place in the BVI, the expansion of Nanny Cay Resort and Marina, and took the opportunity to talk to developer Cameron McColl about the past, present and future of this leading marina development and what the marina expansion means to Nanny Cay and the wider marine industry. Our “In the News” section looks at some of the local stories impacting the BVI, such as the expansion of the airport and the development of the BVI Tourism Plan. Also mentioned is the opening of the new hybrid renewable energy micro-grid which provides power to Anegada through solar.
